The Guest Portrait Studio
by Birches & Pine
A pop-up portrait studio inside your wedding
The Guest Portrait Studio is a complete professional photography setup brought directly to your venue.
Using a timeless backdrop and flattering studio lighting, I create portraits throughout your reception. There is no awkward countdown and nobody needs to arrive knowing how to pose.
I am there for every photograph—helping people relax, offering straightforward direction and creating something that feels polished without losing their personality.
Think beautiful family portrait meets magazine photography, with all the fun and energy of a wedding celebration.
All your people, beautifully photographed
Your favourite people.
Properly photographed.
Your wedding might be the only time everyone you love is in the same place. The Guest Portrait Studio gives them somewhere to step out of the party for a few minutes and leave with something brilliant.
Professional lighting. A simple hand-painted backdrop. Gentle direction from a real photographer. Portraits with personality, not another row of awkward grins.
Let’s be clear
This isn’t a photo booth.
No plastic props. No automated countdown. No strip of four nearly identical photographs. This is an actual portrait studio, brought to your wedding and made wonderfully easy for your guests.
Everyone is invited.
Best friends. Grandparents. Families. Musicians. The people who usually disappear from the photographs because they are too busy enjoying themselves.
Different weddings. Different backdrops.
The studio can take on a completely different character at every celebration—from a simple piece of fabric in the sunshine to something darker, richer and a little more theatrical.
How it works
The studio fits naturally into your evening. Guests can wander in between drinks, dancing and catching up—then I take care of the rest.
01
I build the studio
I arrive early to set up the backdrop and professional lighting in a space agreed with you and the venue.
02
Your guests step in
Couples, friends and families can join in throughout the session. I gently direct each portrait so nobody has to know what to do.
03
You receive the portraits
Every finished photograph is professionally edited and delivered in a beautiful online gallery after the wedding.
More personality. Better photographs.
An experience
with a photographer.
A photo booth records whoever stands in front of it. The Guest Portrait Studio goes further. I spot the brilliant combinations, help people relax and create a portrait that feels considered without ever becoming formal.

The practical bits
Good questions
You have a professional photographer creating and directing every portrait. The lighting, composition and finished images are designed to sit comfortably alongside the rest of your wedding photography.
A clear area is needed for the backdrop, lights and enough distance to photograph small groups. I will speak to your venue beforehand to make sure the chosen space works.
It works particularly well during the drinks reception or evening party. The timing can be planned around your wedding schedule.
Absolutely. The studio is designed for individuals, couples, families and groups of friends. The practical group size depends on the available space.
Yes. It can work as part of Birches & Pine wedding coverage or as a standalone experience alongside another photographer.
