Our approach to wedding photography is a bit different to most; but it’s one that we know works both for you and for us. We believe that great photographs come out of the great relationships that we build with our couples; that’s why you’ll never find us turning up at your door come the morning of your wedding having never met you in person before.
Much more, wherever possible, we like to sit down and get to know you (and vice-versa) over a drink or two before you book. For us, this starts things off right by kicking off the collaborative process that goes into making your wedding photos awesome!
Our Style... the no style style, with all the *style*
Over the years we’ve tried to come up with a way of defining our style by measuring ourselves against ‘the rule book’…. you’ll often hear terms like documentary, reportage and fine art thrown around, some of which we’ve used in the past. But we’ve recently realised it’s difficult to pin us down to just one style. We like to shoot in a variety of ways that covers almost all the bases…. we say almost, because the one ‘style’ we are not is that stuffy, shouty photography style (we’ve all been to a wedding and seen that!).
For the majority of the day we’re documenting whats going on in a discreet and unobtrusive way; mingling as one of your guests. But every now and again, where appropriate, we might direct something to get the best out of a certain situation. A great example of this is suggesting a great spot for the groom to be in those getting ready shots or gathering your guests together for a confetti run.
No matter the point in your wedding, from start to finish, we’re continuously looking for that next moment to happen; the quirky and wonderful, the soft and sincere… it all goes into completing the story of your day.
Then there’s the special moment we get to whisk you away from everything to take some cool photos of just the two of you.
Super relaxed portraits
You LOVE having your photo taken, right? Maybe? Not so sure? It’s perfectly natural for most people to feel a bit awkward having their photos taken and we get it can be super daunting.
Relax… we’ve got this!
We’ll get to know you in the run up to your wedding day, take you out for a pre-wedding shoot and ease those camera jitters. Come the day you’ll feel much more at ease and confident you look awesome in front of the camera! 30-40 mins (usually split into 2 windows during the day) is all it’ll take for us to create some beautiful, natural portraits.
Wrap it up!
Claire (bless her) had these words to say that sum how it is to work with us: “We had such a fantastic day and it was perfect, we loved every minute and want to do it all over again. We were so glad you were part of it and we were both saying we’re going to miss you! We’ve got quite attached, ha ha! We are so happy we chose you both to capture our special day.”
That’s Claire and her husband Alastair on the swing ride above; their wedding was filled with so much joy and laughter… contrast that with the picture below of them and their son, during their first dance, which is one of the most loving and tender moments we’ve had the privilege to witness.
It’s an honour we get to take and deliver a set of incredible photographs to our couples that allow them to relive their day, over and over again.
