We’re long time friends and have traveled the world together… survived an earthquake…been in some dicey situations in 4×4’s and once spent a rather romantic night on a river boat cruise in Kerela, India! …. you know how it goes…
After having photographed many weddings separately, together and with other photographer friends, we decided in late 2016 to form the ‘brand’ that has since become ‘Birches & Pine Wedding Photography’ and set up business shooting weddings together in a way that we really believe in.

"Hey, I'm Rich..."
I love to cook (I trained as a chef) and my chocolate brownies are ‘world famous’.
Give me frozen lakes and snow caped mountains every day of the week…. although I’d happily spend the weekend on the beaches of the Isle of Harris.
I’ve been to New Zealand 5 times (lived there for two years), ‘failed’ to reach Everest Base Camp twice and learnt to scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef.
One of the most surreal moments of my life was standing in a backstreet of Varanasi, India, in the teaming rain, a torrent of water at my feet; unable to move for the throngs of little old Indian women queueing to give puja at the nearest shrine.
"Hi, I'm James; I love travel, cake and meeting new people!"
I have been in love with photography for over 12 years, right from the first time someone put a camera in my hands.
Photography has helped me connect with people, travel, tell stories and create beautiful images that I will remember for a life time. I am happy, creative and passionate about everything I do. I want to make pictures, that will make you smile, cry and laugh.
